Hakeem "the Dream" Olajuwon, born January 21, 1963, is a Nigerian-American former professional basketball player, renowned for his time in the NBA from 1984 to 2002, primarily with the Houston Rockets and briefly with the Toronto Raptors. Olajuwon led the Rockets to back-to-back NBA championships in 1994 and 1995 and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. He is celebrated as one of the greatest centers and players in basketball history. Olajuwon, who began his career at the University of Houston, was the first overall pick in the talent-rich 1984 NBA draft.
